Lumanyano Mzi, a South African/Boston-based musician, leads "The Unity Band," winners of the Best Newcomers in Jazz Award at the 2019 Mzanzi Jazz Awards for their debut album "Fabric."

His musical journey started at six when he filled in for a missing drummer in his father's reggae band, sparking a lifelong passion. A Contemporary Writing and Production Graduate of Berklee College of Music ('23), Lumanyano's diverse experiences include collaborations with local and international artists, shaping his evolving musical path.

Artists he has worked with include: Sibongile Khumalo, Gordon Vernick, Meta and The Cornerstones, Larry Klein to name a few.
