Leo Vertunni

Performer, Musician

Leo is a performing sitar player, a composer and a professor at the Conservatory of Vicenza. He graduated from the University of Bologna in Indological studies, and gained a Master’s degree in Music Performance at the SOAS University of London. He studied for several years with Pandit Avaneendra Sheoikar, and is currently learning from Ustad Irshad Khan. His performing activity ranges from Indian classical music concerts to collaborations in various genres (flamenco, western classical and electronica) and theatre productions for which he scores the music and is active in the writing of the scripts.

Leo has also produced radio programs dedicated to Indian music for both Italian and Swiss national radio (RAI, RSI). Lately he collaborated with the MUDEC museum of cultures of Milan performing on an ancient instrument belonging to their permanent collection.

Leo has co-composed the music for the TEV productions Eternity In An Hour and  Shakespeare’s Women.
