TEV is one company with a shared vision to create enlightened and enlightening theatre around the world. And just like a flower with many petals, we are delighted to share the unfolding of TEV’s work in the Americas.
For five years, TEV-America has been growing steadily, creating a children’s play, a historical drama, a comedic video-play, a video poem series, and will soon launch our first full production, Mothers of Freedom, to premiere in Boston, in 2024.
While we remain dedicated to manifesting universal values through theatre, we also connect deeply to the specific history and stories of the places where we work. We listen for which stories are most urgently needed to nourish, challenge and enliven the American communities we reach.
An original co-created play in development that tells the stories of freedom fighter and abolitionist Harriet Tubman and women’s rights activist Pandita Ramabai. In 1888, these two women met briefly, sparking an instant friendship, and a conversation that would change the course of both their lives.
Through a theatre-based process of co-creation, TEV is creating an episodic series of ‘video-poems’, based on the book, The Prophet, by Lebanese-American poet, Kahlil Gibran. The book was published in 1923, and quickly lauded for its beauty and depth.
Have you ever had a “thinking meditation”? You know, where you’re supposed to be blissed out and silent, but instead your thoughts are like, “Hello, welcome, let us discuss everything ever!”. Well, Lucy (our protagonist) certainly has. And she’s ready to do battle with her (talkative, bubble-blowing) thoughts.
Please check back soon for announcements of winter and spring classes for 2024!
